What Is This Resource?
The social-emotional book list provides a list of recommended children’s literature to support children’s social-emotional learning. Books listed are relevant for children from birth through age 8. The list is organised by different aspects of social and emotional skills and capacities.
This recommended book list builds on the book list developed by the Center for Social Emotional Foundations for Early Learning and incorporates titles available in New Zealand and Australia.

How do I use This Resource?
We encourage teachers, teaching teams, parents and whānau to review the list and identify new titles that may be useful in their setting. Reading books that include social-emotional concepts is a great way to introduce and reinforce important knowledge and skills for young children.
